Jag måste komma hit och kommentera mina egna erfarenheter av (åtminstone vad jag tror är) företagets produkt. För en tid sedan fick vi Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon-laptops på jobbet, där jag tror att funktionen som kontrollerar om du är framför skärmen är Elliptics verk (rätta mig om jag har fel?). Det tog nog inte ens en vecka innan de yngre “tech savvy” medarbetarna hade stängt av funktionen. Anledningen var att den “smarta” funktionen inte förstod om du satt stilla framför laptopen, utan låste skärmen. Ett par veckor senare stängde IT av den för alla. Om laptopen var dockad och användaren höll locket stängt, tolererade inte heller denna funktion det, utan låste skärmen direkt när tiden var ute. Svårt att se att användarupplevelsen inte skulle vara “global”. Visst är det möjligt att funktionen kan fixas med mjukvara, men när den redan är avstängd för användarna kommer dess “rykte” inte att kunna tvättas rent. Och om kunderna inte är nöjda med funktionen, finns det då någon form av hot att Lenovo kommer att överge funktionaliteten i framtida enheter?
