Exel Composites is a manufacturing company. The company manufactures and markets composites used in demanding industrial environments. In addition to its core business, lamination and extrusion are also performed. The largest operations are found around Europe and Asia with customers in the manufacturing and aerospace industries. Exel Composites was founded in 1960 and is headquartered in Vantaa.

Well, we’ll see. A pretty bold view from Danske, considering there are still profitability issues. The cash situation might even get tight if profitability doesn’t improve soon. It seems there are now two very different views on the company’s future.

Now, I don’t remember seeing that Danske’s fair value or target was 0.7-0.8 before the split. Maybe it was, but there’s quite a difference to Inderes’ 0.55€ There’s no clear value in these conservative statements. The market moves when facts appear between the lines, if they do, and analyses follow cautiously afterwards. I myself predicted already in December that in June the value would be around 1.05€ (now x15) We’ll see if I become an oracle

Danske Bank analyst Waltteri Rossi states in the bank’s analysis that Exel’s last year ended strongly with an order intake of 99 million euros, and the company appears to be on a growth path this year. “Exel ended last year positively, with Q4 orders and revenue growing by 173 and 16 percent year-on-year. We expect the strong momentum to have continued in Q1 and estimate revenue of 30 million euros (+16.5 percent year-on-year, consensus 4.3 percent), supported by improved market sentiment and good demand across all segments,” Rossi states. For January-March, Danske expects an adjusted operating profit margin of 4.3 percent. According to Rossi, the improvement in the revenue margin is supported by efficiency measures implemented last year, such as the closure of the Belgian factory, which should no longer have a significant negative impact in the first quarter.  Quite a vigorous change, and before, the fair value has been low   Danske Bank changes the fair value range for Exel Composites’ share to 10.5–12.0 euros from the previous 0.7–0.8 euros. It’s easy to agree with that observation about the strategy; the company is very different now. Previously, operations were quite scattered across many small applications, and there wasn’t really a single clear growth story. Now the direction is much clearer, focusing on energy, infrastructure, and other volume markets where the properties of composites provide real significant benefits. At the same time, the production structure has been cleaned up and operations centralized where it’s possible to increase scale. Conductor cores fit this picture quite well. They aren’t some isolated experiment, but exactly the kind of application where technology can scale into a large market. And Exel’s position in the value chain is interesting in the sense that the company doesn’t compete for individual grid projects but supplies the core to conductor manufacturers. If composite cores start to become common, Exel can benefit from the growth of multiple manufacturers at the same time. We’ve already seen indications of this through framework agreements. Therefore, my feeling is that the strategy shift of recent years has put the pieces in a pretty good position. A big part of the work has been fixing the structure and sharpening the focus. The next phase is then quite simple: volumes need to start showing up in the numbers. If applications like conductor cores really take off, Exel could be in a very interesting position over the next few years.
