The company was founded in 1972, and its business is currently divided into three segments: Collection, Recycling, and Food. 1. Collection  Tomra’s best-known and historically most significant business area. It covers reverse vending machines (RVMs) and related software and services. Collection generates stable cash flow and is a market leader in many countries, especially in Europe and North America.  2. Recycling  The Recycling segment focuses on material sorting solutions (optical identification, sensor technology), specifically for plastic, metal, and waste streams.  3. Food  The Food business provides sorting and quality control solutions for producers, packers, and processors (in the form of grading, sorting, peeling, and analysis technologies).
