Bergen Carbon Solutions AS (BCS), the pure-play carbon capture and utilization
(CCU) company, today provides an operational update and financial results for
the second quarter of 2026.
During the second quarter of 2026, BCS continued to advance both its technology
platform and intellectual property portfolio while maintaining a disciplined
financial position. A significant milestone was achieved when the Norwegian
Industrial Property Office issued a notification of intention to grant a patent
covering the separation and purification process for our carbon material. This
marks an important step in strengthening the protection of BCS' core technology.
The company also progressed the development of its carbon nanotube material, BCS
CNT. Following continued improvements in production consistency, with more focus
on product, BCS has expanded engagement with industrial partners and research
institutions in Europe and Asia to further evaluate product performance across
selected battery applications. External testing has continued to generate
encouraging results, particularly within lithium-sulphur battery technologies,
with additional verification work underway using larger-format pouch cells that
more closely resemble commercial applications.
BCS is increasingly directing its efforts toward product qualification and
application development, driven by growing insights into the unique
characteristics of its carbon material. In parallel, the company has
strengthened its position within the European battery eco-system and was
selected to participate in a new initiative led by IFE aimed at establishing a
Nordic battery value chain for defence-related applications, including drones
and other strategically important technologies. Governmental funding has been
applied for the project.
