Roni has been quick to write a comment regarding the release above  Etteplan announced that it is initiating change negotiations in its Software and Embedded Solutions service area in Finland. The negotiations cover 336 employees and could lead to a maximum of 40 redundancies and a maximum of 30 temporary layoffs. The measures are driven by a weak market situation and structural changes brought about by AI. The news is not a big surprise considering the service area’s recent weak performance, but the structural changes brought by AI are long-lasting and raise concerns. Inside information: Etteplan initiates change negotiations in its Software and Embedded Solutions service area Etteplan is initiating change negotiations in its Software and Embedded Solutions service area. The objective of the change negotiations is to adjust the service area’s competence base to support the implementation of Etteplan’s strategy. The change negotiations are being initiated based on grounds according to the Act on Co-operation within Undertakings for financial, production-related, and operational restructuring reasons. The negotiations cover all employees of Etteplan’s Software and Embedded Solutions service area in Finland, a total of 336 employees. The planned measures may lead to the termination of employment for a maximum of 40 employees and, in addition to previously implemented layoffs, the indefinite layoff or reduction to part-time work of a maximum of 30 employees. “The weak market situation and the structural changes brought about by artificial intelligence in the industry have reduced demand for the Software and Embedded Solutions service area, weakened its profitability and, consequently, the sustainability of operations. Adjusting the competence base to the changes brought by AI and accelerating the implementation of the strategy are necessary. We now have to make difficult decisions so that we can determinedly develop the service area into an even stronger expert in industrial AI and digitalization,” says Harri Saikkonen, Director of the Software and Embedded Solutions service area. The change negotiations will begin on February 10, 2026, and are estimated to be completed by the end of March 2026.

According to the agreement, 13 employees from Elomatic will transfer to Etteplan as existing employees starting June 17, 2024.&nbsp;&nbsp;"Etteplan has over the years invested significantly in paper machine engineering expertise in Finland, Sweden, Poland, and China.
