Evli is an asset management company. The group offers a range of financial services related to asset management and loan financing. Its customers include both private savers and larger corporate customers, with the largest activity in asset management. In addition to its core business, it also offers various ancillary services within fund operations. Evli has its headquarters in Helsinki.

The same thing was revealed on Evli’s ownership list as in other smaller Helsinki firms!  Säästöpankki Itämeri has continued its heavy sales also in March, and it’s clear that this has capped the upside potential. Based on the fund’s comments, the issue is not a loss of faith in Evli, but rather a strategic change to move from stock-picking based on conviction to a more market-aligned approach (read: sell small caps, buy index names). Both specialize particularly in fixed income investments, and both have seen excellent sales in fixed income products in recent years.

Last night, I looked at the ownership list, and there was the culprit for the share price drop.  Säästöpankki Itämeri has been selling off shares quite heavily, and such a sell-off is certainly noticeable in a less traded stock.  There’s been more discussion about this fund’s small/mid cap dumping in other threads (e.g., Easor and Admicom).

For some strange reason, the market decided that Evli’s value is now 20% lower than it was 2 months ago  The business has been moving in a good direction and the impact of the current market turmoil will remain small, at least on the current scale. Evli continued its excellent performance, and net inflows once again reached nearly EUR 200 million. Sales were primarily driven by fixed-income products, and the distribution of new sales was neutral. Over the last 12 months, net inflows have already exceeded the EUR 2 billion mark, which is an impressive level in both absolute and relative terms. We note that a significant portion of the net inflows over the last 12 months is explained by new Enhanced Index products, into which the company has transferred assets previously held in ETFs within asset management (Enhanced product sales ~EUR 1.3 billion). Consequently, this does not represent new capital, but the fee level for the company’s own Enhanced products is significantly higher than for ETFs, which has a clear positive impact on fee income. The final closing of the Evli PE IV fund was completed at 184 MEUR. The fund had ~160m in capital in Q4. That record level of over 180 MEUR is a really good performance, considering the general challenges with alternatives. The same applies to Evli’s other alternatives, and the company was able to swim against the tide well during 2025. In my understanding, this is explained by the fact that the role of alternatives in Evli’s client portfolios did not grow excessively high during the previous upcycle, which is why sales haven’t plummeted in the same way as with many peers. We discussed this topic with Maunu in the Q4 interview: Evli Q4’25: Hyvistä asemista vuoteen 2026 - Inderes EDIT: indeed, this product is fully comparable with eQ’s PE funds and CapMan’s PE investment programs ( CapMan Wealthin vuosittainen ohjelma keräsi 120 miljoonaa dollaria uutta pääomaa - CapMan ).

Not at all comparable; this is a fund of funds, meaning it doesn’t invest directly in companies but in other private equity funds. It is comparable to eQ’s equivalent, which I recall being in the same size range.
