Kempower and Time Park partner to deliver fast EV chargers to hotel and retail charging sites across Norway
Kempower, a leading provider of DC fast charging solutions for electric vehicles, and Time Park, a parking operator and Thon Gruppen subsidiary, have signed an agreement to deliver charging infrastructure to a range of sites, including retail sites and hotels.
Kempower has already delivered charging infrastructure to two Time Park sites – Amfi Elverum, a shopping mall, and McDonald's Orkanger in Trondheim. The sites comprise a 600kW Kempower Power Unit and four double-armed Kempower Satellites and a 600kW Kempower Power Unit and six double-armed Kempower Satellites respectively, two typical set-ups that will be replicated across other sites.
Installed by Bravida, the chargers at the new sites utilize Kempower ChargEye, Kempower’s cloud-based charging management system, to optimize site operation through monitoring and management features. The McDonald’s Orkanger site also employs adaptive voltage charging, which enables chargers to work with EV batteries up to 1,000V and serve the new, more advanced 800V EVs which are increasing in popularity over 400V models: While Porsche, Hyundai, and Lucid are early adopters, companies like Ford, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo have announced plans to integrate 800V systems into their future models.
Time Park’s partnership with Kempower will contribute to its parent company Thon Gruppen’s sustainability strategy, which includes a target to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 60% by 2030.
“Kempower is proud to announce an agreement with Time Park, a leading player with parking spaces across residential developments, shopping centers and hotels. It is heartening to see Time Park committing to sustainability, leading the way in reducing Norway’s emissions. With the country’s goal to reduce transport emissions by 50% compared to 1990 levels by 2030, this is a significant step,” commented Erik Kanerva, Kempower’s Director of Sales for North Europe.
“Norway is truly leading the way for e-mobility and we are proud to be part of this drive. By equipping sites such as retail and hotel sites with public EV charging, we are meeting EV drivers where they are. With our plans to deliver thousands of new public charging points across Time Park sites, we plan to make EV charging as convenient and accessible as possible,” commented Henrik Begby Andersen, CEO of Time Park.
