Medclair's technology enables compliance with strict new limit values – independent French study confirms results

Medclair

An independent clinical evaluation at the Pierre Colson Burn Center in Lyon confirms that Medclair's Mobile Destruction Unit (MDU) is a critical prerequisite for healthcare providers to meet strict regulatory requirements for the working environment. The study, published in the scientific journal Anaesthesia, shows that Medclair's technology reduces nitrous oxide exposure to levels that ensure compliance with the latest national limit values.

The study was conducted in a demanding environment at the burn unit (Hospices Civils de Lyon), where nitrous oxide is used for pain relief during procedures such as wound care and debridement. The aim was to evaluate how effectively Medclair's MDU can reduce occupational exposure for healthcare staff.

The system constitutes an essential tool for reaching established occupational health goals while simultaneously minimizing the operation's CO2e emissions. As regulatory requirements tighten, the evaluation shows that Medclair's destruction technology is crucial for hospitals to maintain a safe working environment without compromising their climate goals.
In addition to protecting staff from exposure, Medclair's MDU destroys the nitrous oxide into nitrogen and oxygen before it reaches the atmosphere. This distinguishes the technology from central evacuation systems, which often only vent the potent greenhouse gas into the outdoor environment without treatment.

The study concludes that the mobile destruction unit represents a flexible and highly effective solution for managing nitrous oxide exposure in a clinical setting. For Medclair, this independent validation is important as it scientifically establishes that the company's system is a direct enabler for healthcare providers to fulfill strict legal requirements and reach their sustainability goals. The fact that these successful results were achieved in an environment as demanding as burn care – where procedures are often prolonged – strengthens Medclair's position as a market leader and proves that the technology delivers reliable protection even under the most challenging clinical conditions.

"The results from the evaluation in Lyon confirm that Medclair's technology is an essential tool for healthcare providers striving to reach their occupational health goals without sacrificing ambitious climate targets. By effectively destroying nitrous oxide at the source, we enable a safe work environment for staff while minimizing the operation's CO2e emissions," says Jonas Lundh, CEO of Medclair AB.
