NCC initiates partnership to construct regiment base in Kristinehamn

NCC BPress release2026-09-08 07:30

NCC and the Swedish Fortifications Agency have signed a partnering agreement to plan and - in the next phase - construct a new artillery regiment base in Kristinehamn. The new regiment will play a crucial role as Sweden builds its defense capabilities. Construction contracts will be signed in the project's next phase prior to starting production.

"We are pleased to partner at an early stage with the Swedish Fortifications Agency. We will now work closely together to optimize conditions for construction of the new regiment base. NCC has a long track record of completing construction projects, both for defense activities and for other critical infrastructure, for which stringent standards apply with regard to planning, coordination and management of sensitive information," says Niklas Sparw, Head of NCC Building Sweden.

The regiment base will be built on the Harberget site in eastern Kristinehamn, thereby re-establishing the Swedish Armed Forces' operations in the region. The facility will be used for basic military training and is expected to employ approximately 350 armed forces personnel and 250 conscripts on its completion.

The parties are now starting the first phase, which includes project planning to prepare construction blueprints, costing and setting a budget for the various contract components. Construction contracts will be signed in the project's next phase prior to starting production.

The project covers a 211-hectare site with approximately 40 buildings and involves extensive earth and groundworks.

This summer, the Government of Sweden approved the construction of the Bergslagen Artillery Regiment A9 base in Kristinehamn at a cost of not more than approximately SEK 6.5 billion.
