NCC to expand port in northern Norway

NCC BPress release2026-07-17 08:00

NCC has been commissioned by the Norwegian Coastal Administration to expand the Kjøllefjord fishing port in Finnmark, northern Norway. The order value is approximately SEK 500 million.

Located in the far north of Norway, Kjøllefjord is a busy and important fishing port. The port will now be expanded and upgraded to provide better protection for incoming vessels, increase capacity, and enable the local business community to continue to thrive.

NCC's contract includes the construction of two new breakwaters in the outer harbor, dredging of the inner harbor and development of new port operational areas. The northern breakwater will be about 150 meters in length while its southern counterpart will be about 320 meters. In addition, the deepening of the dock area will require dredging and handling of approximately 70,000 cubic meters of material.

"We are proud to participate in a project that enhances maritime safety and improves the prerequisites for the fishing industry and the local community in Northern Norway. The planned project is extensive and requires solid expertise in marine construction, materials handling and civil engineering works," says Tomas Brannemo, Head of NCC Infrastructure.

NCC has long-standing experience of complex coastal civil engineering projects, including the Hammerfest and Forsøl projects, where NCC was commissioned by the Norwegian Coastal Administration to conduct extensive environmental remediation and upgrading of the ports.

NCC will carry out the project in close collaboration with the Norwegian Coastal Administration and several specialists in the field, including NCC's subsidiary Sjöentreprenören.

Work will commence in September 2026 and is scheduled for completion in autumn 2029.

The order value is approximately SEK 500 million and will be registered in the NCC Infrastructure business area in the third quarter of 2026.
