Peab has been commissioned to build a new ice skating rink in Alingsås. The customer is Alingsåshem and the contract is worth SEK 218 million.
Peab will build a new ice skating rink in the Nolhaga area where there already is an ice skating rink. The new facility will be two stories and have room for 500 spectators. It will also have a storage room, locker room, gym, offices and work-out room. The rink will meet the requirements set by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association for division 1 matches.
"The ice skating rink is a project that I know means a lot for the whole community which gives extra meaning to being part of building it. We really look forward to starting construction and contributing to a new, updated ice skating rink for Alingsås residents. There are a lot of us that will enjoy sports events here and will be very proud that Peab is in the bones of the building," says Liselott Bergkvist, Region Manager Peab.
The heat and energy created by producing ice will be reused in the nearby swimming pool facility. Swerock's ECO-Betong (ECO-Concrete) will also be used which contributes to lowering carbon emissions by up to 50 percent compared to traditional concrete.

The project is a turnkey contract in partnering. Construction will begin in the spring of 2023 and Peab is planning to turn it over at the end of 2024, beginning of 2025.
The project will be order registered in the fourth quarter 2022.
