QT Group operates in the IT sector. The group develops various development tools for the global market. The technology is based on QT technology and is used to develop multi-platform interfaces and associated applications. The services are used in, among other things, industrial robots, entertainment systems, and vehicle systems. Operations are conducted on a global level and customers are found in the automotive and aerospace industries.

Within that framework, I don’t believe Qt Group has any competitive advantages. Qt’s competitive advantage is of a different kind. It doesn’t rely on office workflow but on embedded software development tools and quality assurance. AI helps Qt if the acceleration of software development also increases the need for testing and quality assurance. Otherwise, Qt is partly protected from the threats that AI poses to SaaS (Software as a Service) software.

Let’s try again without AI content, as it was apparently frowned upon by the community. How do you see why this framework would be relevant from QT’s perspective? I don’t see QT having a very strong position in light of that framework.  Business Data: No business runs on top of QT in the same way as, for example, an ERP. It’s not a system of record onto which AI agents and the like, which perform magic tricks with data, could be bolted. Complex Business Process: Perhaps partly relevant, referring to the identified special requirements of certain application areas (large hardware variation and its management, real-time need, etc.). Extensive Integrations: I couldn’t really form an opinion on this based on the forum discussion. Industry Regulation: Partially perhaps standards and certifications, which have also been discussed in this conversation. And it might offer some protection in automotive, but this is not a fintech core system where regulation plays a truly big role. Trust, Institutional Position, and Long-standing Relationships (Distribution): Yes, it is known to the developer community and so on, but somehow in software development, these types of moats feel much shallower than “nobody got fired for choosing Salesforce.” Tools come and go, after all.  In other words, I don’t find support for QT’s long-term competitive advantages in that framework. Then again, something like Admicom clearly ticks almost every box.

Around €50. The only way for short sellers to reduce their losses is to try to buy their pot back for less than €50. At that point, the only speculation is whether the offer will go through and if a higher offer will emerge. We can even get a short play going there: borrow shares and sell them for over €50, then buy them back a bit lower.

If the tender offer is €50, then the share value is often close to this, i.e., in this case, about €50.

Now that Qt has fallen below 20 euros/share due to a weak market and short sellers, let’s consider a scenario where a 50€ takeover bid comes from across the sea, and the short sellers get burned and disappear. What would the share value be after that?

It seems that management will receive stock bonuses from the company early in the year, regardless of results or share price. That’s what’s irritating about these reward schemes.
