Safe at Sea: Letter of Intent for future deliveries of electric, emission-free and silent rescue boats

Read the release

Safe at Sea and the Swedish Sea Rescue Society (SSRS) has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) for the start of electrification of the their RescueRunner fleet.

The LoI is an important step towards future emission-free rescue operations and it shows the mutual ambition to start the process for deliveries of the electric boat system ElEcoRunner. SSRS has a clear and outspoken strategy of reducing their environmental impact, and the implementation of RescueRunners with electric and emission-free powertrain, ElEcoRunners, will contribute to their environmental goals and strategy.

Safe at Sea and SSRS have cooperated in the development of the ElEcoRunner concept since the project started in 2019. The development of the ElEcoRunner is a joint initiative, to show how to make Search and Rescue and other important activities on water fossil-free, and to meet the great demand for small emission-free rescue boats. SSRS that developed the RescueRunner in 2003 were pioneers in the development of light and flexible rescue boats, and they continue to be at the forefront through their involvement in the ElEcoRunner project and purchase of the very first ElEcoRunner, that was delivered in October 2022.

"This is a very clear signal from one of the world's most renomed sea rescue organisations. The LoI will help us in the planning and preparations of future deliveries of ElEcoRunners." says Henrik Hartman, CEO at Safe at Sea AB (publ).
