<div class="abstract">Sedana Medical AB (publ) (SEDANA: FN Stockholm) today announces that the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has issued positive guidance recommending Sedaconda ACD as a cost-saving option for delivering inhaled sedation in intensive care as an alternative to intravenous sedation.</div>Sedaconda ACD is recommended as an option for delivering inhaled sedation in intensive care in England and Wales when volatile anaesthetics are being considered. Cost modelling shows cost savings compared with intravenous sedation of almost £4,000 per adult patient (30-day time horizon for adult patients needing mechanical ventilation for 24 hours or longer in intensive care)."The recommendation from NICE is a major milestone for Sedana Medical. After showing meaningful benefits of Sedaconda (isoflurane) versus intravenous sedation in our clinical trial SED001, NICE has now confirmed that the use of Sedaconda ACD leads to considerable cost savings compared to intravenous sedation. We are looking forward to continuing our good collaboration with NICE and are pleased that the NHS in England and Wales will have a new cost-effective alternative to provide inhaled sedation to critically ill patients in the ICU," said Johannes Doll, CEO of Sedana Medical.NICE commissioned an external assessment centre (EAC) to review the evidence.
