Summa Defence is a Finnish defence and security technology group. This is actually quite good news for the company. Lännen Tractors is precisely the heaviest burden and the biggest concern if you look at the financial figures. Massive losses and plummeting revenue. Now the size of the new order is 2x the 2024 revenue (adjusted to a 12-month period). Now even the biggest bogeyman dragging down the results might look quite okay. It’s starting to look like Summa will achieve a positive result for 2026. As for the combat-proven drones, one would think buyers will be found sooner or later, either as part of military aid to Ukraine or for national defense needs. EU money is also pouring into the sector in massive amounts. In this regard, the income would of course be shared with partners as well.

Sales are spread over several years; at least in its current state, the company won’t be able to generate anything positive for the bottom line, and these are likely quite price-competitive contracts. Well, at least it puts an end to the drone speculation some were having.

It’s kind of amusing that it’s a tractor company subsidiary that snags the NATO deal instead of the drone division. The buy side might turn into a sell side once people realize this.
