Regulatory press release

Virginia-based dialysis provider Somatus Kidney Care partners with Redsense

Read the release

Somatus Kidney Care has entered into an agreement with Redsense Medical to use the Redsense solution in the five acute programs maintained by Somatus in the Northern Virginia area. Somatus Kidney Care is a full service provider that provides integrated care for patients with or at-risk of developing kidney disease, and offers all dialysis modalities. It was established in 2016 and is headquartered in McLean, Virginia.

"Somatus Kidney Care and Redsense Medical share the vision of a more personalized, accessible and compassionate kidney care that has the patients' needs and safety in mind at all times, and we look forward to a mutually rewarding cooperation," says Brendan Kane, US Director of Sales at Redsense.

In 2020, Somatus was recognized as leader in kidney health in CB Insights' annual ranking of 150 promising digital health startups around the world - operators that are reimagining the traditional healthcare experience. Founded by a team of healthcare operators, entrepreneurs and clinicians, the company is working to grow through partnerships to provide personalized and holistic kidney care services locally in communities. It is currently servicing more than 20,000 kidney disease patients across six states.

About Redsense and home hemodialysis

The Redsense Alarm improves patient safety during hemodialysis by monitoring for blood leakage, which can occur, for example, if the venous needle is accidentally dislodged during treatment. Worldwide, it has been estimated that 2,100 needles dislodge every day.

Home hemodialysis is actively promoted by the recent US policy changes to improve kidney care. It is often preferred by patients and physicians, due to increased convenience, independence and quality of life, and the increased patient safety offered by the Redsense alarm enables more patients to adopt the treatment modality with less risk.
