Here are Antti’s comments regarding the recent Gastropanel study.  Biohit announced on Monday a new clinical study supporting the reliability of the GastroPanel test in ruling out the need for gastroscopy (stomach endoscopy). The news supports the company’s growth story and sales arguments, but does not cause immediate changes to our forecasts. It’s great that this year marks 20 years since Gastropanel’s market entry, so it would be high time to make it big

At least according to that press release:  “Up to 90% of gastroscopies can be avoided when the GastroPanel® result is normal.”  And in the CEO’s own words (in the same release), the same claim: Biohit CEO Jussi Hahtela: “The results are very clear: when the GastroPanel® result is normal, gastroscopy is almost never needed. This is a significant turning point, enabling considerable cost savings and significantly shorter endoscopy queues.” Of course, one must remember that we’ve heard these kinds of statements from CEOs before (Biobone Substitutes, Faron Pharmaceuticals, e.g., about Traumakine, etc., etc.). This time, it all sounds absolutely wonderful. Of course, there’s always the possibility that years from now, we’ll realize that this company’s CEO’s statements should have been taken with a generous pinch of salt =). The main owner has been buying shares with a really big scoop lately, and insider purchases are generally considered a good sign. In my opinion, this news sounds, or at least has been made to sound, really good.

Do you assume that every test and treatment performed in hospitals is 100% accurate/successful? For example, over the past year, there have been many positive news stories from studies around the world where GastroPanel has been clearly proven to be a working solution.
