Canatu is a technology company active in deep technology that creates carbon nanotubes (Canatu CNT), related products and manufacturing equipment for the semiconductor, automotive and medical diagnostics industries. The company operates through two business models, firstly using their own reactors to develop and manufacture CNT products. Second, the company sells its CNT reactors and licenses its related technology, allowing customers to produce the products themselves under a limited license.

The 1 nm process, i.e., A10, also appears to be progressing under the guidance of a new vice president, among other things. The last paragraph of the attached news article: “A10 is TSMC’s post-A14 fabrication process expected to be available to its clients sometimes in 2030 or later. The company expects A10 to enable it to make monolithic chips with over 200 billion transistors at the time. Some believe that TSMC plans to start using High-NA EUV lithography tools with its A10 node.”

Canatu appoints Antti Härmänmaa as VP, Legal & General Counsel and Leadership Team member, he joins from Nokia. I think this is good news. He looks experienced and his Linkedin profile suggests that he understands not only legal matters but also intellectual property and copyrights, which is important when you’re scaling a company built on breakthrough technology. TrendForce              [News] Samsung Reportedly Secures Partial Taylor Fab Use Approval, Timeline...    Samsung’ Taylor fab is reportedly making tangible progress. Citing Korea JoongAng Daily, the report says the company has obtained temporary approval f...                              Sources cited by the report add that Samsung is likely to begin testing extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography tools as early as next month. These tests would mark a key milestone toward mass production of 2nm chips, with full-scale output targeted for the second half of 2026. Once mass production ramps up, the report says the Taylor plant will manufacture Tesla’s AI5 chips under a contract running through 2033, and is also expected to supply the company’s next-generation AI6 chips.  This is pretty much 1:1 with the roadmap presented by Canatu for 2026.

Finnish deep tech company Canatu has been selected as a finalist in DIGITALEUROPE’s 2026 Future Unicorn Award competition. There are three finalists in the Future Unicorn category. Alongside Canatu, the finalists are the French company Quandela and the Danish company Sparrow Quantum. Being selected as a finalist from among 34 European candidates highlights Canatu’s innovativeness, growth potential, and contribution to building Europe’s digital future.   DIGITALEUROPE’s Director General Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl stated in the organization’s press release:  ”This year’s finalists represent the absolute leading edge of European innovation, from quantum computing to space infrastructure and life-saving defense technologies. However, we cannot celebrate without acknowledging the reality: Europe holds only 20 percent of global unicorn companies, while the United States has nearly half. This gap is due to the way growth is financed.”

I didn’t get an invitation to this call, but back in January, Juha and I already went through many of the things found in the slides during our InderesTV interview. I wasn’t at the Carbon Age event either, as I was away from Helsinki on a business trip. But it’s unlikely there would have been any alpha available there
