Duell is an import company. The company's own and imported products are sold through a distribution network covering the European markets. Duell’s range of imported products includes equipment, accessories and spare parts for motorcycling, snowmobiling. boating, bicycling, ATVs/UTVs, mopeds and scooters. The company was founded in 1983 and its headquarters is located in Mustasaari, Finland.

The last extensive report on March 17, 2025, stated the course was 6.4 and the target price a hefty 9 euros. Since then, the course has been followed with a delay, meaning investors haven’t benefited. The target price is, of course, a 1-year outlook, 9 euros is a perfectly reasonable target price for a 5-year outlook . Now people are even cutting back on candy by switching to cheaper options, which, according to Halva (licorice seller), has never happened before, so times are tough. Duell will rise eventually when the economy recovers, though the timing is unclear.

The profit warning was expected, but the reaction to it is completely out of proportion. I’ve only been a Duell shareholder for a few months and doubled my position on this dip, so I don’t care about past share price history or forecasts; only the future and the current valuation matter, which is ridiculously low relative to its assets. I’d probably be skeptical of Duell’s balance sheet and inventory values myself if I didn’t have better-than-normal insight into it through my work. My criticism is directed at predictions of some financial crisis, share issue, tight balance sheet position, etc. Anyone who has studied the numbers understands that Duell, with these figures, is certainly not a crisis company.

3 years and the stock is down 95%. I wouldn’t boast too much about an analyst’s ability to predict the future; instead, I’d be concerned about Duell’s management’s track record (board, management team, and main owners) and confidence in its ability to navigate. Is everything different now? Inderes’s analyst previously speculated about the risk of a profit warning. He was wrong in that an even uglier profit warning materialized. I glanced at Inderes’s stock chart for Duell’s catastrophic three-year recommendation history, which was mostly correctly assessed by the analyst.

I can’t be bothered to argue about the same things anymore, cash is always at its lowest in H1. Management’s estimate was 2-3 million in obsolete inventory related to inventory optimization, and even from those, something will still be recovered. (This is pretty much in line with my own view) The result is pretty much around zero/slightly negative, when you consider the depreciations that are not cash flow affecting in a historically weak market and conditions, and during the weakest quarters of the year, which I think is a good performance. (I expected bigger losses) This has also been discussed here; the value of the inventory has not decreased from a year ago, because the end season for winter products fizzled out. (The money from those isn’t lost either, they can be sold next season)

In Duell’s challenging situation, focusing solely on the self-sufficiency ratio can be risky. There was less than a million in cash, the inventory value can be viewed with reservations, accounts receivable are high, and the result is a loss. If one criticizes the analyst’s comments, one can equally justifiably view management’s comments with reservations. Working capital is certainly being released into cash constantly, but at what cost and speed? There has been no significant change in inventory value and accounts receivable compared to a year ago.

People are seriously discussing here whether a company operating with an equity ratio of over 50% is having problems with its loans…  I would understand all the worries much better if we were dealing with a significantly larger debt load, the company had no goods to sell, and was making millions in losses per quarter… Which is not the situation; quite the opposite.

Because handling a single loan installment may have been done, for example, at the expense of business continuity, leading to the failure to handle the next or subsequent loan installment. A single loan installment is a smaller problem from the bank’s perspective than the company’s financial situation reaching an impasse. That’s when the repayment of the entire debt is jeopardized.
