Tekova is a construction company in Finland, specializing in the construction of business premises, offices, logistics, production and sports facilities. The projects are tailored to the needs of the customers. The regional companies include Tekova Länsi-Suomi Oy in Tampere and Tekova Pohjois-Suomi Oy in Kempele. Tekova was founded in 2018 and has its headquarters in Vantaa.

Comrade Turkulainen is speaking in generalities. Could you specify which decade or century your unpleasant experiences originate from, and whether they relate to Tekova? As a shareholder, I would like to be informed of such matters in a timely manner. On the other hand, almost all of Tekova’s completed projects are zero-defect handovers, and many customer relationships have continued year after year. We really should be over the era of the “Reds” and “Whites” by now.

On the other hand, I know of one facility handed over last year where the owners are super satisfied with the quality. I’ll also add that I am not a Tekova shareholder.

There’s nothing unpleasant to hear there; it’s quite natural that costs are being pushed down and competition is fierce. It’s not rocket science; rather, to paraphrase the CEO, it’s just building rectangular buildings.

As a former construction sheet metal worker myself, I keep my purse strings tight when it comes to companies in this sector. I can’t say everything I saw on the construction sites; cost-efficiency was the top priority, facades were the cheapest Polish Kingspan panels… with former Koivukoski/Lehtola people bossing others around. There’s too much competition in the industry to make a profit through quality, e.g., Talliosake, Teräselementti… it’s a shame I can’t recall one name (maybe the Pro-Mart hall in Pirkkala was their contract). Of course, a lot can happen in ten years in one way or another; were these also from the Ostrobothnian gi… Estonians, Kyrgyz, and others are putting those up through the night. Hall construction is mostly “nice” because when the sites are a bit more remote, they are also partly beyond the reach of supervision. Well, I’m sure this message will be flagged since the truth is unpleasant to hear!

Evli changed their recommendation to buy (accumulate) and raised the target price to 1.6 euros (1.45). Q1 beat lifts earnings confidence; valuation remains undemanding  Tekova’s Q1 results exceeded expectations, reinforcing confidence that operating profit will land in the upper half of guidance. Combined with reduced earnings risk and an undemanding valuation, this supports an upgrade to BUY.  Inderes, on the other hand, maintained their accumulate recommendation and target price of 1.5. Tekova intends to purposefully promote project-specific carbon footprint calculation in the future as part of its sustainability goals. I was wondering how setting this sustainability goal will be reflected in Tekova’s material choices going forward? Is it expected that the company will use more wood elements in wall and roof structures? In March, Lapwall released a new wall element that, as I understand it, suits Tekova’s needs quite well. Can it therefore be seen that cooperation between the companies will intensify and that they will support each other in achieving their business and sustainability goals?
