I suspect that Alphabet has a significant competitive advantage in AI information retrieval and queries because they possess an unparalleled volume of data. I would imagine that with so many users, a “canned”, pre-made answer can simply be cached for very many repetitive queries,...

Thanks for the excellent earnings summary. Alphabet’s annual revenue run rate is approaching the $500 billion mark. Playing in the same league are the world’s revenue #1, Amazon (closing in on 800 billion soon), Walmart (a bit below Amazon), oil giant Saudi Aramco (around five hundred...

This is Google’s big problem. On the one hand, they cannot “afford” to provide a full AI bot response for every search, because it would “cover” the entire page with bot output that costs a lot to generate compared to a standard search, while its very presence cannibalizes traffic...

In a way, when it comes to Alphabet, you can understand this seemingly detached-from-reality capex splurge if insiders see the old cash cow getting displaced by AI agents doing the shopping. After all, search engine revenue could soon start to decline, which—if it continued for several...

A significant portion of Google’s usage is information retrieval, and Google knows this full well. They also know that AI has significantly changed how people search for information, and the outcome will be that AI replaces the traditional search engine—meaning Google—in information...

That’s exactly it. If quarterly revenue remains at least at this level, then revenue over the next 4 quarters will already exceed 500 billion. Cloud’s share of revenue YoY has grown by a good 9 percent and now stands at around 24% of quarterly revenue. If Cloud were to grow in the...

I wonder what the sales potential of those will be to external companies? The inventory value has risen from a few billion to 13 billion dollars. Apparently, this is mostly related specifically to upcoming deliveries of these chips. Additionally, it was also mentioned that all the...

HCA Red Flag: Alphabet beats expectations on Cloud, but disappoints on earnings (AI)

The underlying earnings per share of USD 2.67 vs. the expected USD 2.97 points to a softer start, as higher AI costs and weaker search growth are dragging estimates down. Google Cloud came in above the threshold at 30.7 BUSD vs. expected 29.6 BUSD, so the growth narrative remains intact.
