Tecnotree operates in the IT sector. The company specializes in the development of digital communication solutions. The services include, for example, business process services and subscription management for corporate customers in telecom and other digital service providers. Operations are held on a global level, with the largest presence in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

The cash flow should be in a completely different league, and those forecasts should be worth nothing. Furthermore, there are no words for how abysmal the receivables collection process is, and there isn’t even an explanation of what kind of contracts have been made. Why is the company acting as a bank for its customers?

Q2: When you add the new announced contracts from the end of July and yesterday to the order backlog, we reach nearly 130 million euros. That’s a big jump again. Furthermore, when looking at the deals from last year and this year, most of them are in so-called reliable parts of the world, so the money should actually make it into the cash pile.

Excellent! A great deal based purely on the numbers alone. This package secures well over 5% of the total annual revenue for the next 3 years, thereby providing a strong foundation for future revenue growth. And somehow, one might assume (or at least hope…) that this client is a bit more creditworthy than those previous deadbeats. However, even more than the figures themselves, this should be viewed as a growth driver through the peripheral benefits it brings. As anyone who has made a sale surely knows, the easiest and most convincing sales argument for winning new accounts is often that their competitors have also bought those services from that same provider. Such successful big deals are thus well-suited to generating new, and often even larger, deals with significantly less sales effort than before. There’s also an interesting connection emerging here regarding the Canadian prospective buyer. Could it be that interest in acquiring TT is growing specifically in the Americas precisely because the company finally appears to be making a proper breakthrough there? It wouldn’t be impossible if another suitor were to appear on the board’s turf…

Tecnotree Corporation (“Tecnotree”) has signed a significant agreement based on annual recurring revenue (ARR) with an existing telecommunications operator customer in the Americas region for services related to Tecnotree’s products. The total value of the agreement over three years is approximately 17.5 million US dollars, and the revenue will be recognized starting from 2026. Tecnotree maintains its market guidance for 2026 unchanged for the time being.

The earnings call didn’t bring anything new to the table. It is certainly positive that revenue is growing while costs are decreasing. Now it just needs to translate into cash flow. In his remarks, the CFO said that the guidance is conservative due to the situation in the Middle East and the performance of the dollar. The reason for the timing of the write-down was a contract restructuring, which is quite understandable. We will be informed about the Canadians’ moves if there is a reason to do so. We wait…

That is it in a nutshell. If we start from the assumption that these 21 million are lost for good, then you can think of it in terms of TT having engaged in charity for one quarter; having done one quarter’s worth of revenue’s work for its customers for free. And an even harsher way to look at it is how much revenue TT will have to generate to cover these write-downs. The entire year’s 2025 profit before taxes was 15M and revenue was 72M euros. With TT’s cost structure from last year, a 21 million write-down (as a final loss) would thus be covered by 101M in revenue. Of course, the root cause of the problem is likely that TT has sought (and apparently continues to seek) growth with high risk, and therefore operates with high-risk customers. In any case, the risk associated with these receivables has materialized to an unreasonable extent, and it truly appears to be a clear structural problem for TT. On the other hand, in this situation, it could also be assumed that the ongoing M&A process is having some impact. A company that is for sale tends to present any slightly uncertain assets on its balance sheet with emphasized caution, so that the buyer cannot later make claims for damages or demand a reduction in the purchase price due to, for example, unfounded receivables. For the seller, it is generally better to agree on terms for an earn-out if the collection of the receivables succeeds later, rather than selling the buyer “thin air” and arguing about it afterwards.

As @alan86 and @vilkar already stated, impairments are recorded under other financial expenses in TT’s reporting. TT talks about one-offs, but since this spending has been going on for 2.5 years now, it is more of a worrying problem with TT’s customer relationships. When significant write-downs occur in 2024, 2025, and again in 2026, it starts to look like a structural problem. €21M is a very large sum for a company of TT’s size. If I were on the board, I would replace the CEO rather than reward poor performance. In my opinion, the board is not up to the task. My confidence in the board has been weak for years, and it weakened again. I don’t think there will be a change here unless the main shareholder changes. Bright spots in the H1 report: improving cash flow, a good order book, and an increase in headcount in half a year from 704 → 753.
