[Monclova, Belo Horizonte, Torino and Stockholm, 16 December 2019] - Following successful product development, the Teksid group has begun series production of Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI) at its foundries in Monclova, Mexico and Belo Horizonte, Brazil.  The production in Mexico is for large diesel engine cylinder heads used in power generation and transport applications, while the production in Brazil is for heavy-duty cylinder blocks used in commercial vehicle and off-road applications.  In parallel with the start of CGI production in Brazil, Teksid has ordered a capacity upgrade for the existing SinterCast System 3000 Plus, more than doubling the current production capacity.  The upgrade is planned to be installed during the first quarter of 2020.  Building on the successful product development and start of series production, the Teksid group has received additional orders for SinterCast-CGI series production programmes in both Mexico and Brazil."The start of series production follows our installation of the SinterCast System 3000 Plus technology in Brazil in 2016 and the capacity and functionality upgrade to the full System 3000 Plus capability at our foundry in Mexico in 2017" said Dr. Paolo Airaldi, President and C.E.O. of Teksid, S.p.A.  "The Teksid group regards Compacted Graphite Iron as one of the main growth opportunities for the cast iron foundry industry.  With CGI capability at our foundries in Brazil, Mexico and Portugal, we are uniquely positioned to supply the CGI series production requirements of the global passenger vehicle, commercial vehicle and industrial power markets.""The start of SinterCast-CGI series production at the Teksid foundries in Brazil and Mexico reinforces the growing demand for CGI in commercial vehicle and industrial power applications" said Dr. Steve Dawson, President &amp; CEO of SinterCast.  "With series production underway, and additional CGI production orders secured, we look forward to supporting the series production needs of Teksid and to developing the CGI opportunity together with them."For more information:Dr. Paolo Airaldi Dr. Steve Dawson  President and C.E.O.
