Yes, I recall some instances from the US as well, where when a company splits into two publicly traded companies, one of them receives a takeover bid shortly after. The buyer determines its current stock market value and if they are willing to pay more on top of that.

Talenom Plc, Press release 28 November 2024 at 14:00 EETTalenom's change negotiations have been concludedAs a result of the new strategy and the planned separation of the software business into its own company, Talenom Plc announced on 9 October 2024 that it will initiate change negotiations. The negotiations concerned around 180 people in Finland and were estimated to lead to the termination of up to 35 employment contracts. The company sought total annual savings of EUR 2-3 million in investments and direct costs with the reorganization.As a result of the reorganization and change negotiations, Talenom expects to achieve savings of approximately EUR 2.3 million in 2025. The savings will mainly affect future software investments and improve cash flow.
