The plant is part of the Green Energy Park project under construction in Gliwice, Poland. The order was placed by an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) consortium consisting of Mostostal Zabrze Gliwickie Przedsiębiorstwo Budownictwa Przemysłowego S.A., Oschatz Power GmbH, and Przedsiębiorstwo Remontów Ulic i Mostów S.A. (PRUiM). The order is included in Valmet’s first quarter 2026 orders received. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The delivery will be handed over to the customer during 2027 and 2028.

Valmet is having major problems selling new machines, and the workload in Jyväskylä is still low. Competitor Voith, on the other hand, has made deals. It makes one wonder if pricing is the main reason for this. Luckily, Valmet now rests on many pillars.

By generating minute-by-minute predictions of key paper properties such as tensile, tear, burst, and short-span compression strength (SCT), and by leveraging existing mill data, the system provides operators with real-time information on product quality. The system continuously learns from laboratory feedback, enabling proactive process optimization, reducing waste, preventing quality variations, and improving mill profitability. Real-time quality predictions support decision-making Valmet IQ Virtual Sensor produces real-time quality predictions during the process without the need for additional sensors or shutdowns.
