WALLENSTAM: Dupont restaurant to open in the Makaregatorna district

Next spring, the restaurant Dupont will open at the Makaregården courtyard and will become neighbors with Ahlströms café and Hasselssons. The trio at Nordhem are behind the venture and they are now establishing their new concept in one of Gothenburg's most vibrant urban spaces. Dupont is described as a modern brasserie, inspired by classic Southern European restaurant culture. The ambition is to create an extension of the living room where people of different ages can meet to enjoy great flavors, wine and conversations.

"The establishment of Dupont is a fine example of how the Makaregatorna district is continuing to develop as one of the coziest and most exciting neighborhoods in Gothenburg. Since it has been important for us to find the right tenant, it is great to now tell you about this concept developed by the local, dedicated and talented people in the team behind atNordhem. Dupont is a good fit in a district that is already full of great qualities, fine craftmanship and a wonderfully vibrant city life. With outdoor seating at the sheltered Makaregården courtyard, the restaurant will also become a natural part of the district's wonderful pulse," says Anders Forsling, Chief Account Manager, Commercial for Wallenstam in Gothenburg.

"We want to create a restaurant that feels natural in the city. A place you can pop into at any time of the day. Good food, fine wines and warm hospitality are at the core of what we do. The restaurant should function just as naturally for business guests as for private parties, and be just as suitable for lunch as for late dinners," says Wilma Wilms, one of Dupont's partners.

The premises' large windows facing Södra Hamngatan and the water, provide abundant natural light and close contact with the urban environment. The courtyard at Makaregården is planned for use all-year-round and the interior design aims for a timeless, classic look that blends in with the older buildings in the district.

The trio behind Dupont, Wilma Wilms, Charlie Bergmann and William Stübner have a solid track record from the restaurant industry and look forward to offering a menu next spring that is inspired by the classic brasserie and bistro - rustic, generous and with clear roots in Europe, but always with elegance.
"The focus is on pure flavors, respect for the ingredients and an artisanal kitchen together with good drinks, which is an integral part of the overall concept," says Wilma Wilms.

The Makaregatorna district which comprises four colorful blocks between the Hamngatan streets in the heart of Gothenburg, is an area that offers lively main streets, charming side streets and unexpected courtyards.
