Puuilo operates in the retail sector. The company operates and manages several stores and trading locations. The range is broad and includes household and pet products that are resold under its own or other brands. Customers mainly consist of private players around the global market. The largest presence is found in Finland.

For many, getting free sausages on a department store’s opening day and queuing in the middle of a crowd while chatting is 10 times more interesting than spending the same time sitting at home bored at a computer. It’s the same logic as why people go to cafes in general; humans are social animals. For those who aren’t working at that time, it might be the highlight of their week, or at least a change of pace. In that sense, the queues are easy to understand. I visited Jula for the first time this week. It’s a decent, tidy, and large store. I haven’t done any price or selection comparisons. Let’s not get into that discussion again; it’s already been addressed further up in the thread. However, many customers seemed to be wearing construction vests. In that regard, it certainly competes with Puuilo for the same customer base. Right now, Puuilo seems to be doing very well. What the tightening competition will look like in 5 years is very hard to predict. Those who have followed Tokmanni’s investment story know that the future is always uncertain, and situations and outlooks can change radically.

That’s how it is at every Puuilo opening. The tracksuit crowd rushes for free sausages, and the 200 most eager ones queue up for a 10€ gift card. Free cheap sausage has always appealed to Finns in some strange way.

There has been no significant change in Finnish building permits, so IKH’s H2 market outlook might be too optimistic.

IKH’s start to the year has been strong according to Grafton. Grafton does not expect the market to pick up before the second half of the year.
