Sampo is the leading property and casualty insurance group in the Nordic region and a major operator in the growing digital P&C insurance market in the UK. Sampo Group has around 9 million customers, and it employs 15,000 people. ﻿ The Group’s insurance revenue totalled EUR 9.1 billion in 2025 of which the Nordic market represented 75 per cent.
 
The Group’s operations are diversified by geography, line of business, and customer group. Sampo Group operates in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, the UK, and the Baltic countries. Its largest customer groups are private customers in the Nordics and in the UK, representing in total over 65 per cent of the Group's insurance revenue. The Group is also a leading provider of P&C insurance in Nordic commercial and industrial businesses.

OP published a list of potential profit warners this morning. Sampo made it onto the “Prerequisites for a positive profit warning” list, along with Alma Media, Nokia, and Rapala. Although Sampo has already raised its guidance once this year, according to OP’s analyst, the forecast remains cautious. The beginning of the year has gone well for Sampo, and additionally, the benefits of the Topdanmark acquisition will begin to show increasingly during this year. Therefore, the analyst believes that Sampo’s result will be even better than the company’s own guidance. The analyst’s own estimate for the underwriting result is slightly higher than the guidance provided by Sampo. He also expects that Sampo will raise its guidance again later in the year. Sampo’s own estimate for insurance service result is currently EUR 9.6-9.8 billion (growth of 6-8%) and for the underwriting result EUR 1,525-1,625 million (growth of 3-9%). Meanwhile, OP’s underwriting result forecast stands at EUR 1,636 million.

Hi @Sauli_Vilen ! It’s already been 5.5 years, but could you reflect on this “Sampo in 5 years” forecast of yours from August 2020?

I posted the original Swedish text here on the Forum’s Sampo thread, and then suddenly it turned into Finnish, containing that translation which leads to a misunderstanding (direktavkastning had been changed to total return). @Sijoittaja-alokas, is there some automatic AI translation engine on the forum or what is this about? I specifically wanted to post the original Swedish text, from which the correct content would have been clear. As @Timo_Huhtamaki states there, that 6% consists of dividends and buybacks. And then separately, there is Sampo’s growth and development as a company, as well as the appreciation of the share price. This is how I understand it

I read the same analysis in Swedish, and that 6% refers to the dividend yield including buybacks (see below). Growth is also forecasted; the EPS forecast for this year is €0.45, €0.59 for next year, and €0.64 for 2028. In Inderes’ forecast, the corresponding figures are €0.47, €0.61, and €0.67, meaning Ålandsbanken is slightly more conservative. ÅB: “Sampoaktien är efter nedgången under inledningen av året återigen attraktivt värderad med ett P/E-tal på 14,7x 2027e och en direktavkastning (inklusive återköp) på ca 6%. Vi ser aktien som en stabil bas i en diversifierad aktieportfölj, och behåller vår positiva syn på aktien.”

The dividend and buybacks already achieve this. So, is no earnings growth expected at all?
