Digia announced on Friday morning that it is initiating change negotiations in some of its Finnish units to respond to changed demand in the IT services market (link to release). Approximately 300 people are covered by the negotiations, and the company estimates a reduction need of at most 50 employees. In our view, the adjustment measures are a logical continuation of the company’s new strategy period, the early stages of which focus on reforming and streamlining operations. The annual savings of EUR 2–3 million targeted by these measures support our earnings forecasts for the current year and the company’s goal of raising profitability towards an EBITA margin of over 12% by the end of the strategy period. At the same time, we continue growth investments across the entire business in line with our strategy. Approximately 300 employees out of Digia’s roughly 1,600 staff are within the scope of the negotiations. The grounds for the negotiations are production-related, financial, and due to operational restructuring. The estimated need for reductions is a maximum of 50 persons. The current market situation in the IT industry is reflected in Digia’s service areas subject to the negotiations as a targeted weakening of customer demand and, consequently, a need for operational adjustments. Therefore, Digia is adjusting and renewing its operations and simultaneously continuing investments to develop its business in accordance with its long-term goals. The negotiations will begin on 5 March 2026 and are expected to last three weeks. The change negotiations aim for estimated annual savings of 2–3 million euros. One-off costs resulting from the change negotiations will occur during the first half of the current year, and their magnitude will be determined after the negotiations have concluded. “Digia’s growth investments in line with the strategy are focused on service productization, AI, expertise, and growth also outside Finland’s borders. Continuing long-term profitable growth requires renewal, adjustment, and investments in growth. To secure our competitiveness and support the implementation of our strategy, we must also make difficult decisions so that we can determinedly develop Digia into an even stronger European trusted partner for intelligent business,” comments Digia’s CEO Timo Levoranta.
