Veidekke has won the competition for the new psychiatric building (PHA South) at
the New Aker Hospital in Oslo. The contract with Helse Sør-Øst RHF for the
collaboration phase was signed today, and further development of this billion
project starts immediately.
"We sincerely thank Helse Sør-Øst for their trust. Veidekke has completed a
number of major hospital projects in recent years, and we now look forward to
working with Helse Sør-Øst's project organization with the goal of entering into
a final construction contract in about a year," says Erik Økland, Director at
Veidekke Building Oslo.
The New Aker will become one of Norway's largest local hospitals with emergency
functions and co-location of somatic care, mental health services, and
interdisciplinary specialized addiction treatment. Veidekke's contract covers
PHA South, the largest of three buildings for mental health and addiction at the
New Aker Hospital. PHA South will comprise 27,000 m² with a psychiatric
emergency department, 164 inpatient treatment beds, outpatient treatment rooms,
offices, meeting rooms, and research areas. The project also includes activity
areas such as a gym, outdoor spaces, rooftop gardens, atriums, and a park
connected to the building.
Planned construction start is summer 2027, with completion in autumn 2030.
The contract will be included in Veidekke's order backlog at the start of
construction.
