Press Release
For Immediate Distribution

  • CGI production at Ironcast de Frontera foundry in Monclova, Mexico
  • New 13-litre commercial vehicle engine platform, with series production commencing late 2026
  • Combined with previously announced volumes for this engine platform, the program is forecasted to potentially add approximately 13% to the SinterCast current production at mature volume

[Monclova and Stockholm, 21 July 2026] – Ironcast de Frontera, a longstanding SinterCast licensee and a leading producer of engineered castings for the commercial vehicle and off-road industries, has been awarded a contract to supply Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI) cylinder blocks for a new 13-litre commercial vehicle engine platform in North America. Series production is expected to commence late 2026.

The Ironcast volume adds to the volume that SinterCast previously announced for this engine programme, in June 2025. In total, the program is forecasted to potentially add approximately 13% to the SinterCast current series production at mature volumes. The order reflects the accelerating shift of the global commercial vehicle industry toward CGI, driven by tightening emissions regulations including EPA 27 in North America from 2027 and Euro 7 in Europe from 2029, which require higher combustion pressures that conventional cast iron cannot sustain.

In preparation for the programme, and in addition to the capacity expansion ordered in 2025 and installed in April 2026, Ironcast has ordered the SinterCast desulphurisation solution for installation in the third quarter of 2026.

“Building on our series production of SinterCast-CGI components since 2019, we are proud to secure this programme for the commercial vehicle market. It is a strong endorsement of our capabilities and of the collaboration between Ironcast and SinterCast. Our robust CGI process will ensure efficient long-term production and the delivery of world-class components to our customers. We see CGI as the strongest growth opportunity in the cast iron foundry industry, for both on-road and off-road markets.” said Armando Garza, Plant Manager of Ironcast de Frontera.

“This order reflects the quality and professionalism that Ironcast has demonstrated as a SinterCast licensee, and we are proud to support their continued growth. With approximately two thirds of all CGI produced globally made using SinterCast process control, we are at the centre of the structural shift underway in the commercial vehicle industry. As highlighted in the public OEM announcement of this engine platform on 5 May, next-generation engines must sustain combustion pressures that conventional cast iron cannot meet, and CGI is the proven solution.” said Dr Vítor Anjos, President & CEO of SinterCast.
