RaySearch receives RayStation order from University of North Carolina School of Medicine

RAY BPressmeddelande2026-08-07 08:25

RaySearch Laboratories AB (publ) announces that the University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Chapel Hill (UNC), USA, has purchased additional RayStation®* licenses to expand its already established use of the system. The expansion includes advanced proton planning capabilities in RayStation, such as LET optimization and proton arc therapy, supporting continued development of personalized cancer treatments. The order was received in the beginning of the third quarter of 2026.

UNC has been a RayStation customer since 2015, with the system now in use for photon planning across 12 sites. Building on this long-standing relationship, UNC is now expanding its use of RayStation to further enhance treatment precision and clinical flexibility through advanced proton planning capabilities.

The expansion is centered around a Mevion FIT® proton therapy system and includes plans to implement proton arc therapy, LET optimization and upright adaptive proton therapy. By combining advanced proton planning with adaptive workflows for upright treatment delivery, UNC aims to further personalize treatment strategies and explore new approaches to improving patient care and clinical efficiency.

“We have worked with RaySearch for many years and value the flexibility and advanced capabilities of RayStation,” says Dr. Shiva Das, Chief of Physics, University of North Carolina. “Expanding our use into advanced proton planning supports our ambition to further personalize treatments and improve clinical efficiency.”

“We are proud to have supported the network of clinics at the University of North Carolina for such a long time. Now that they move into proton therapy, RayStation supports their choice of treatment machine. This illustrates the power of RayStation’s support for a broad range of treatment machines, modalities, and treatment techniques,” says Johan Löf, founder and CEO of RaySearch. “We look forward to working with UNC in proton planning in general, as well as in the adoption of more advanced techniques such as LET optimization and proton arc therapy.”
